MY STORY... Peter Winston Guess: The Website Owner
Hi, my name is Peter Guess. Thanks again for visiting. Getting to this page means to me you are serious about your health and fitness.
If this is true, then count me in. My story will explain how I reached the peak of my fitness - unexpectedly. And then "fell from grace" down an invisible, yet slippery slide into lethargy, bad habits and deep discontent. So who am I?
I am a Life Coach and Counsellor. I am also a Website and Mobile App designer. So, NO, I am not a Fitness Coach nor a Weight Loss specialist! But I'm working on all these areas with a clear sense of purpose... (but read more in my story below).
This Website and Mobile Site started off as a DEMO MODEL for a Mobile App! As I developed and refined it, I began to feel that this could be a service for the public and strengthen my own commitment to losing weight and building fitness. Now you are here and this is a space for a simple SERVICE to you, if you are interested in Health, Weight Loss and Fitness.
My Personal Experience: Love For The Long Run
Endurance Training However, I do have a personal interest in fitness, health and weight management because I have done long distance running and a few years ago finished an ultra-marathon (56 km)... and loved it.
I did many half and full marathons, but I lapsed into laziness and moved to another city. More excuses and I became more and more unfit.
Now I am regaining my endurance training mindset again through regular walking, jogging and cycling, with the aim of "learning to love" running the long road again.
My plan is to begin shortly with a few FUN RUNS and slowly build up to longer distances and do a marathon within one year.
Before I moved into the endurance training arena, I was an artist at hiding away, running in the back rows or middle somewhere when I did team sports such as soccer, hockey and volleyball.
The key thing I had to learn about endurance training was to really enjoy it. So I built up from short jogs, to fun runs and then over a period of 4 years, started marathons. I took it very slowly, as I had never seen myself as a "runner". This is very important issue: your mindset.
What "picture" do you have about yourself? Your beliefs, emotions, thoughts and past experiences shape your "picture of health".
I had to break through into a new paradigm of health and begin to believe I could do this. And I did! Over and over and over again, until I could just hit the road and finish the race - loving it, with little force. It came easy because I was actually gentle with myself from the start.
